Lane 8 in Paris?

Lane 8 in Paris?

Only for 90 minutes.

My first overseas flight to Helsinki through Paris.

I fly frequently, so I’m good with all the logistics.

Except at Charles DeGaulle Airport in Paris this morning.

Wow.  I barely made it.  So glad I didn’t give up this morning.

Miraculously, made it by five minutes.

Actually, not giving up is what got me here in the first place.

Carpe diem, and tempt yourself to never give up.  Because if you’re not tempted to not give up, what are tempted by?

Carpe Diem, Finland

Finland, here I come.  Carpe diem!

Thank you to everyone for your support.

First and foremost, my wife and son.  They are as much a part of this as anything I have invested.

This dream is actually a Family dream, not just a jeff noel dream.

In fact, if it wasn’t for them, giving up would have happened long ago.

Prayer warriors, please pray that all 5,300 Master’s athletes, from 80 countries, will arrive to and return from Finland in a safe manner.

A simple wish for all of you, “Stay healthy, have fun”!

Carpe diem, jeff noel, out in Lane 8 🙂

Childhood Excitement, Extreme Humility

Childhood excitement and extreme humility.

This is were I find myself this morning.

Flying to Helsinki tomorrow.

The time has come.

Ten years for one minute.

All I ask from myself is this, “Remember why you started this journey and how you got here. Even if you finish dead last, you will always have that”.

Carpe diem, jeff noel 🙂

Carpe diem @ Lane 8

Carpe diem @ Lane 8.

What does that mean?

It means I can’t wait to see what opportunities will be in my path today. Ever feel like that yourself?

Opportunities to help others.  And opportunities to be helped by others.

It’s 6:00AM.  Two more quick posts and I’m on my way to Dr Phillips High School for a pre-dawn track workout.

It’s 1:00PM in Helsinki.  Woke at 3:30 AM today.  Each day I try to wake up a little earlier in preparation for the seven hour time difference.

Let’s say my heat is at 4:00PM Finland time.  That’s like running at 11PM here.  I’m usually in bed by 9:30PM.

Anyway, from one push-up per day ten years ago, to the World Championships next week.

Wow!  Carpe diem, jeff noel 🙂

PS.  I have a clearer vision of how David felt when he first met Goliath.

The Hay’s in the Barn

“The hay’s in the barn”, Bill Bowerman, co-founder of Nike, told his team.

My all time favorite running movie?

“Without Limits”.  It’s the Steve Prefontaine story.

There’s a scene in which the University of Oregon track team is at the NCAA’s and Bowerman tells the team, essentially, there is no need to practice, “The hay’s in the barn”.

The hard work has been done.   Now, it’s time for the feast.  Time to celebrate, so to speak.

Yesterday, I actually had a very high quality speed workout and then a few hours later hit Gold’s Gym to do a light core workout.

As I was working my core, I came to a realization – I’m in great shape.  There is no need at this point to bust my hump.

The hay is in the barn.

Party time!  Carpe diem, jeff noel  🙂

Inspired? If not, I hope you find it somewhere soon.
