Every Body Is Watching You

Warning or Example?
Warning or Example?

Are you a movie star?

A rock star?

A Hollywood celebrity?

Most likely, we can all answer these questions with a resounding, “No.”

But I beg to offer a different perspective (imagine that, lol).

People are watching you the same way they watch famous people, and they are doing the same thing to you they do after watching famous people.

Judging.

We are all telling a story about what we value. Yes, we are. Every single day.  Every choice we make is another “scene” from the movie entitled “Your Life”.

And this brings us back to a very poignant question, “Am I an example or a warning?”

Ready to Fight?

Frozen, Hardened
Frozen, Hardened

Are you ready to fight for your life?

Then, and only then, will you start to see the changes you’ve always dreamed of.

May I introduce your opponent?

It’s you.  You are the challenge. You are the problem. You are the opportunity.

It’s time to kick your own butt.  Seriously, it is.

If not you, who?  if not now, when?

Ps.  I’m dead serious about this.

Liar

Run, But You Can't Hide
Run, But You Can't Hide

“Liar.”

“You talkin’ to me?”

“Yeah. I’m talkin’ to you.”

It’s a funny observation, human behavior. Always has been, hasn’t it?

Ever go to the park, to center city, to the mall, or just about any public place, and “people watch“?

This time of year there is an annual lying match to see who can tell the biggest lies. Crazy thing though, no one knows about it. And those that do know, could care less about the prize.

Why? Because there is no prize.

No prize for lying that is.

But there is a prize. It’s for resolve. And for creativity. For, indomitable will.

And when we stop lying and start the battle of our lives, then the prize will take care of itself.

True Confession?

If you promise not to call me names, I’ll tell you my true confession. Promise?

Since August 2009, I’ve gained nearly ten pounds.

New readers may not know that after ten years of focused effort to bring my health metrics in line, I had the honor of representing the United States in the 2009 Master’s Track and Field World Championships, in Finland.

So now that the big goal – the motivational carrot – is no longer in front of me, I’ve digressed.

This happens to everyone.

The gift from all of this?  It has increased (if that’s even possible) my conviction that an impossible goal is the only one that will work.

Have you ever thought about that? I mean the impossible goal part?

Then perhaps we can journey and endeavor together, to make 2010 a great and healthy year. Who’s in?

Ready To Build Your Fire?

Lots of Fuel, Arranged Just Right
Lots of Fuel, Arranged Just Right

Most people have had so little experience in the wilderness, that making a campfire is foreign to them. And making a campfire is more involved than it seems.

As a Boy Scout and then again in Outward Bound, we were taught to prepare the wood as if we only had only one match left. If you didn’t prepare properly, and the one match you had went out…

Just throw it in the microwave. Or, order delivery. Or maybe, stop by on the way home for take-out.

Well, it’s like that for our health too.

It may not seem so, but most really don’t have much experience being successful in building healthy habits.

Hey, I’m not making this up.  Look around.  There’s your validation.

It’s epidemic. And we have the opportunity to resolve to be part of the minority – the healthy minority.

And if we can get enough of the minority to change, we can start a movement to become the healthy majority.

Who doesn’t want that for their children, their nieces and nephews?
