The goal is always lofty

Yesterday was Monday. Monday’s Wednesday’s and Friday’s are run days. Redundant. Glorious redundancy.

The goal is always lofty.

It’s human nature, with exceptions of course, to be competitive.

Survival of the fittest is as real as it gets in nature.

In our modern and civilized 2016-world, we still have strong DNA links to fight or flight.

While i do love the sense of accomplishment resulting from high achievement, i also enjoy the simple fact that being able to run at a slow pace with shorter distances is much more important than any world-class competition.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Skipping is ok once in awhile

Before trashing this yesterday, it reminded me how little it takes to dress up “par for the course”. Added the thin box outline and the smile.

Skipping is ok once in awhile.

Not recommended when training is in season.

But otherwise, listen to your body.

My ill and aching body said, “Take a break.”

It felt good to listen and act without stress.

Mixing it up at the gym

relaxing in Orlando pool
A cold front is arriving today, so i enjoyed the warm water two days ago, knowing the water will cool dramatically.

Mixing it up at the gym.

Two weeks ago, i made a simple decision to mix up my workouts.

To make it easy (at first) i am not doing new exercises, but i am playing around with the weight and repetitions.

Big picture – heavier weights, fewer reps, alternating with some days doing the tried and true routine.

Can already feel an increase in strength.

This is motivating in a way the “stale” routine no longer delivers on.

50% is sometimes acceptable…

Felt like going longer, but out of time.

Grateful to get 40 minutes to run. Didn’t make time for a gym workout. Hotel gyms are usually inadequate if you aren’t doing cardio (and i wasn’t). So, 50% is sometimes acceptable…

But when it comes to leadership, 100% is the only acceptable standard.

What is the world’s most popular excuse?

All told, yesterday’s exercise lasted 65 minutes.

What is the world’s most popular excuse?

But i don’t have time.
