Flu, Type A

Indulge. You’ve earned it. Right?

Today is day six with Influenza, Type A.

This began on Christmas Eve “eve” (Dec 23).

So on the third day, Christmas Day, i was well into the physical affects.

Body aches. Fever. Head and chest congestion. Tired. No appetite.

Luckily, never had headaches.

Thank you DayQuill and NightQuill. BIG TIME!

Today is the first day that feels like progress.

Not yet physically at a ‘good” level. But it feels near.

Woke up at 1:00 AM drenched in sweat.

Sheets soaked. Both the bottom and the top sheets.

Cheryl has been sleeping in the Guest room most of the week.

Influenza A is highly contagious.

The first three days i thought it was a cold. We did not distance ourselves.

Last night i walked one mile at sunset.

Note: If a typical activity week is Monday through Friday (assume five days weekly), i’ve been averaging about 7 miles per day. And two or three ‘no-gym’ gym workouts. This week i’ve average .2 miles per day and zero gym workouts. Grateful to be alive and with my Family.

It is sickening

Middle: never get bored with the basics – health is wealth.

Being sick is a painful reminder that good health is our greatest individual asset.

Back on the horse

Workout app
Trivial, yet celebratory, the flexibility to alter the process and still be happy about it.

At Disney, we succeed because we focus on creating the right structure and processes, and improving or changing them as needed.

Running and a gym workout are not my Thursday routine,  but yesterday it was.

Will get back to M-W-F next week.

Being sick for 48 hours really hammers home how different it feels when you’re not feeling vibrant and well.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Skipping is ok once in awhile

Before trashing this yesterday, it reminded me how little it takes to dress up “par for the course”. Added the thin box outline and the smile.

Skipping is ok once in awhile.

Not recommended when training is in season.

But otherwise, listen to your body.

My ill and aching body said, “Take a break.”

It felt good to listen and act without stress.

Immune system fighting the good fight

Rosen Centre ballroom
Rosen Centre ballroom…7am yesterday…other than the event organizer, i was the first one there.

Rosen Centre ballroom
Rosen Centre ballroom…little did i know my stomach would start turning upside down by mid-morning. Had to make it until 3pm, otherwise i would have let the group down.

Immune system fighting the good fight.

Thank goodness.

Stomach bug going around.

Our son stayed home from school while i attended the Ethical Decision Making workshop as a table leader for nine International High School students.

Ultimately, it was the small trash can next to me that provided the security blanket to wait our turn to present a critical case study.

Drove home with a trash bag on my lap. Deep body aches and several hours nap calmed the stomach, but the aches continue even as i write this.
