10 Tips To Better Digestive Health

Yesterday’s blog post about bread and high fiber is really part of everyday life for my Family. Living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), has taught us to pay much closer attention to fiber, hydration and a host of other high fibers food choices.

Just yesterday, coincidentally, this article “10 Tips to Better Digestive Health” arrived via email from our free Everyday Health subscription. Click here to read.  They’re common sense and serve as a reminder that good health is not that complicated.

Lane 8 USA Obesity

Once again tonight, the TV was on while I was in the vicinity, doing the evening things American families do. I don’t sit and watch TV, unless it’s American Idol, and even then it’s iffy.

But Diane Sawyer was talking about First Lady Michelle Obama announcing big plans to fight childhood obesity.

Childhood obesity? Are you kidding me!!!!  For real?

How the hel heck is that possible?

We all know why, and there’s an old saying that proves this “fact”.

“The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

The best way to help our children is to help ourselves. We adults are in for the fight of our lives, if we really want to be a great health example. And if we don’t have the fight of your lives….

Then our children will.

How does a person live with that?  Seriously.  How?

Is Idol on at 8pm or 9pm tonight?

Lane 8 And The Art Quitting

Hayward Field Inspires Impossible Goals
Hayward Field Inspires Impossible Goals

Lane 8 is the worst lane.  The slowest competitor is placed there. You know this already.

There is an art to being in Lane 8.

Huh?  Exactly.

Although it doesn’t seem so, striving for (metaphorically) Lane 8 is really impossible.

Getting healthy and staying healthy, until we die, is really quite impossible too.

Or is it?  There is an art to not quitting, not giving up, no matter what.

Millrose Games Wanamaker Mile

Bernard Lagat, 35, won his eighth Millrose Games Wanamaker mile last night, in Madison Square Garden.

The Millrose Games is the oldest Indoor Track & Field meet in the world, at 103 years.

Bernard Lagat is 35 years old.  Age, accomplishments, and  barriers continue to be broken.

It’s fun to see it happen before your eyes.

Motivation is like a fire.  You have to continue to add fuel to it.

But will you.  Today, I mean?  Will you?

Lane 8 Is The Worst

Lane 8 is where the slowest competitor is placed. In swimming. In running.

You never saw Michael Phelps (world’s fastest swimmer) in Lane 8.  You never saw Usain Bolt (world’s fastest runner) in Lane 8.

And yet Lane 8 is my goal.

This week, like most of you, there was a serious struggle to find the right balance of physical activity and healthy nutrition.  Diet and exercise.

Here’s one of my little secrets.  Are you interested in it?

Dream Big. Get There.  Stay There.

Come up with a mantra, a saying, that will keep you focused on one simple goal.

To not give up, no matter the set backs.  Ever!
