Identify and fight the temptations

Orlando, Keynote, Speakers

(photo: Yesterday’s run was one hour. Followed by a 10-minute cool-down walk. Never made it to the gym though.)

At lunch yesterday, the friend said he’s gained 60 pounds.

His life is hard.

(Shhh, don’t want anyone to feel bad, but everyone’s life is hard.)

Try to imagine being asked to permanently carry a 60-pound back pack. Twenty-four seven.

Until we want something as desperately as our next breath, it ain’t gonna happen. Not the impossible stuff anyway.

Figure it out.

This isn’t a cruel statement, it’s truth.

We are the CEO of our life.

Impossible is all in our head

Wright Brothers first flight

Everything is impossible until the first person does it.

To think we could be more fit at 55 than, well, almost anyone, is sick.

Impossible is, well, all in our head.

  • If not you, who?
  • If not now, when?
  • If now ever, why?

Being an example for what is possible seems legit.

Dear Son, fun is in the physical freedom

Orlando Wellness Speakers

(photo: Apple Sore window caption: “From one gift come many”.)

Dear Son, from one gift, physical health, come many.

Please do not take offense if the following does not describe you now.

Yet know it IS achievable if we are willing to burn the ships of old habits, excuses, and fears.

Fun is in the physical freedom.

To taste the weirdly wonderful joy of loose fitting clothing.

To feel unembarrassed poolside or beachside. Or anywhere.

You are already youthful. Every 14 year old is.

But to feel strong, flexible, vibrant.

To feel deep personal integrity in our food choices and portions.

To place sleep on our high priority list.

We are lean when we are active and intentional.

Third time’s a charm?

Disney, Conference, Speakers

(photo: Christmas concert.)

Progress is simple. One foot in front of the other. Day after day.

Would be lying if the thought of another Track comeback in 2015 wasn’t a decently burning goal right now, December 17, 2014.

Will being retired and self-employed make it easier to train?

Just for the record, the past two year’s comeback attempts have been defeated due to injuries and competing priorities.

Maybe at the end of the day, the real blessing isn’t competition and results, but simply the drive to keep going year after year.

Who inspires you?

(photo: The lap times where periods of acceleration or recovery. Mixing things up to keep it interesting.)

Who inspires you?

Wouldn’t it be great if it was an inside job?

Everyday. All day.

Experimenting with running three times a week instead of the traditional goal of five times.

Fewer runs, right? So let’s make them longer runs, say, an hour minimum.

Since retiring six weeks ago it’s been steady.

And now, what used to be the longest run, five miles, was the shortest run (yesterday) in the past six weeks, 50 minutes.
