An aging body

An aging body is a…

Gift.

Challenge.

Opportunity.

Final exam.

Ps. Repetition is the mother of all learning.

How long do you plan for?

Apple watch
During this 3-hour excursion, walked seven miles. There were stops (clock keeps ticking) along the way for pull-ups, planks, dips, animal observations. The no-gym gym workout took an additional 20-30 minutes before leaving home to walk.

While walking this morning, thought of friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors who’ve committed to an exercise regime.

At least a 40-year observation.

And then some questions reflexively began, effortlessly:

  1. How long do you plan to exercise?
  2. How long do you plan to eat better?
  3. How long do you plan to get better rest?

There’s only one smart, over-focused answer.

i don’t even need to say it.

Interesting time in life, body

Walked 5 miles before starting today’s yardwork. Today netted 10 miles walking.

Interesting time in life.

A few grey hairs were the first sign.

And back in the day, i’d meticulously search for and remove the one or two that i could find. Seems like this was early 30’s. So more than half my life ago.

Seems like “crow’s feet” was next. The wrinkle around your eyes.

Willie Nelson inspires me.

My focus is in aging well. Meaning, accepting and surrendering that which comes with time.

And in the same breath, maintaining vibrant “senior” physical health.

So far, my only prescription medicine is daily vitamin B and D pills.

Additionally, i’ve self prescribed daily movement, rest, and nutrition.

We earn our old

We don’t stop exercising because we get old. We get old because we stop exercising.

Walk yourself

Facebook post screenshot about walking
Love this sentiment.

Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Everyday, I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. But by sitting still, and the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill. Thus if one just keeps on walking, everything will be all right.”

~Søren Kierkegaard

My version…

“Walk like you mean it.”
