Couple quick updates

Received an email confirmation yesterday that my hotel request has been accepted.  Due to the volume of requests, it took the Lahti Travel agency a few weeks to sort it all out, on a first-come, first served basis.

The dream is alive.  It almost doesn’t feel real.   This is ten years in the making.   You might even say it’s been 50 years in the making.

The thing that brings me back to reality is the other update.

In a few minutes, I’ll be heading to the hospital, to the physical therapy/rehab center, getting a strength test to see how well balanced my body is.

Are the quads and hamstrings proportional?    Lower legs and upper legs proportional?   Is my core strong enough?

All this to determine the chance of injury.

As a Master athlete, competing on a National and World level, a 50-year old man can very easily be tempted to exercise like they are still 18.   Let me tell you first hand, it doesn’t work that way.

Whatever you’ve been working on, whether it’s been 50 years or ten, make it a great day, and find all the reasons you need, to not give up.  Carpe diem, jeff noel  🙂

96 Percent ain’t good enough

What are you satisfied with? A 96% would be an “A” on most tests.  Not satisfied with an “A”.  The overachiever in me wants an “A+”.

Early this morning, I got an “A”, with a “96”.  I’ll take it and feel very good about it.  And feel very, very thankful, too.

Felt great.  Opened it up a bit on the second and fourth mile.  Heel held up nicely.

This leaves me cautiously optimistic.  So, I’ll celebrate with two full days of rest.  I’m due for this any way.

Have a GREAT weekend.  My favorite day of the whole year is tomorrow – Easter Sunday.

Carpe diem!  Chase your goals and never, ever, give up.  jeff  🙂

Excited about….

Excited about running tomorrow.  Meanwhile here’s Thursday’s update.

Didn’t run today, mostly because I had too much on my plate.

Started the day at Hanger Prosthetics, getting fitted for new custom orthotics and a new Night Splint.  That felt good to finally get that done.  Have had the prescriptions since January 5th.   Did I mention being busy?

I rationalized that I could use a day’s rest from running, but not the gym – core and strength workout.

Can’t wait for a five-miler tomorrow morning.  Carpe PM, good night, jeff 🙂

Wednesday – Still undecided

Ran the same three-mile loop as yesterday  But today with wool gloves and wool cap.  Seriously.

Central Floridians, especially me, are chilly anytime the temperature dips below 60 degrees.

The pain was very mild.  Can’t wait to try longer, easy run as well as a tempo run, to see if the pain is just hiding, and waiting for another chance to dampen my spirits.

Carpe PM.  Good night.  jeff  🙂
