Sugar is not fuel

Do curse words help or hurt our motivation to exercise?

The Thug Cookbook is being marketed in a seriously unorthodox way – foul language.

Their tag line is eat like you give a fu@k.

As risqué as it is, there is one thing for sure, it’s pure marketing genius.

Consider yourself.

How do you market your motivation to exercise?

Have you lost interest?

Are you still on fire for wellness and being an example?

Two short runs in 13 days is nothing to brag about

bright red fall colors on campus

(photo: yesterday’s run through University of Iowa campus. Mostly the colors are just beginning, except here.)

How does one overcome the inevitable and consistent setbacks?

While in Iowa there was one short run in four days which is better than zero.

Too much to do this morning (now back home at Walt Disney World) to have time to run. So now it’s one short run in five days.

And in two days a six-day business trip to a cold climate.

Could end up being only two runs in 13 days.

Note to self: figure it out.

And this strengthens all our good excuses to stop

Masters Track & Field Championships 2015

(photo: Nice to have something to be able to drive to. Jacksonville is three hours away.)

We should always have a compelling goal in front of us. One that makes our efforts to do things, when we’d rather not, strong enough to exercise anyway.

There are obviously going to be unforeseen set backs. These are often stimulating enough to motivate us to keep going.

Too many curveballs though and it gets old.

And this strengthens all our good excuses to stop.

There is something about making progress and having fun with chasing a goal that is inspiring.

Hoping for that to reappear.

Soon.

If only we had spent more time avoiding exercise

Orlando sunrise

(photo: It’s still dark out, so this photo from three days ago is this morning’s inspiration to ‘just do it’)

We may not think we are dedicating our lives to avoiding exercise, but that’s exactly the end result for many.

Yee haw! Two purposeful days of active rest. No travel. Orlando-stay-at-home lucky.

Expecting a decent run this morning.

Hoping something similar for you.

Always.

A lifetime of it.

Self motivation is art… be an artist

Orlando Based wellness speakers

Looking forward to this morning’s run around campus.

What are you looking forward to this morning?

PS. There are plenty of other things an Orlando based leadership speaker could be doing with the time it will take to complete the run. Gonna run anyway.

Maybe exercise helps a speaker deliver a better speech.
