To neglect this is to literally neglect everything

To neglect this is to literally neglect everything.

Your health.

Your company’s health.

Blinding flash of the obvious, health is wealth.

Getting and staying healthy is constant, tiring, repetitive work.

What else is there to live for if not to live with vibrancy? Too lofty? Too elusive? Too hard? What other path could possibly be easier? The path that includes a lack of wellness created by unfocused and undisciplined choices?

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Entrepreneurial discipline.

It’s similar to Olympic athlete discipline.

Some of you know this if you’ve worked hard enough and long enough

iPhone screen shot of run time
Not making this up. The focus and discipline it takes to understand pace is astonishing.

Fastest post (July) surgery mile run so far. Didn’t particularly feel like running at a higher level, but after a mile warmup and some light stretching, decided to push a little – nothing ambitious.

Quickly realized that not exercising for the past three days provided the gift of a well-rested body. Within 30 seconds a notion – let’s shoot for a 6:20 mile.

Some of you know this if you’ve worked hard enough and long enough – you can get really good at delivering on what you say you’re gonna do.

What’s holding us back from doing this one simple thing (twice) every morning?

glossophobia
This is a fear even greater than the fear of death

What’s holding us back from doing this one simple thing (twice) every morning? I weigh myself twice every morning. The second time is to confirm the first number. If they match, I’m done. If they do not, I weigh a third time.

Why? Because it teaches us (me) what each pound feels like. Over time the practice, repetition, and the focus teaches nuance and self-awareness.

I can feel a two-pound difference in either direction. Insane? No.

If you have ever experienced this level of daily awareness, you know it’s absolutely not insane.
