You must pick your pain

tough runner's planks
Revisiting this photo from a couple days ago. Why? Planks can be difficult. Not having good core strength is difficult too. Pick one.

You must pick your pain.

Text conversation with a former Disney Institute colleague.

Recommended my Podiatrist to him.

He’s visited Dr. Curtis Wagner.

Making progress.

Mark asked me yesterday, “How long did it take for the pain to go away?”

“Two years, or more.”

Then i said, “Get the night boots and the custom orthotic inserts.”

He has trouble sleeping with the boots.

Who doesn’t?

Totally unnatural to wear boots to bed, night after night, year after year.

Hey, i get it.

Been there done that.

Is the hassle (pain) of night boots worse than the pain (hassle) of every step of your waking life?

Is food pleasure or fuel?

Is food pleasure or fuel?

It can be one or both.

But there’s one it cannot be by itself.

Perfectly ripened fruit is healthy and delectable.

Cake is delectable, but not healthy.

And so goes our days.

Choices.

Always choices.

Pleasure only is not a choice.

The joy and privilege of movement

working from home
Yesterday i wore the USA jacket during the bicycle ride to the 8am dentist appointment, anticipating it being cold inside. This photo captures the workday environment from 10am-5pm.

The joy and privilege of movement.

Taking that joy and that privilege for granted and waiting for “some day” to become physically vibrant again – like you were when you were a child – is a crime.

A crime.

If inactivity, poor eating habits, and poor sleeping habits were forced upon you, you’d feel cheated and you’d probably get angry.

Truth is, you’re probably forcing poor habits upon yourself, and that’s how you should feel, but you don’t.

Spend some time in solitude and reflect

confrontation
This image, with its profound message, is worth a second look.

Spend some time in solitude and reflect.

“Dear jeff, if you are not willing to take care of your health, can you at least explain your logic for your codependence with unhealthy wellness habits.”

“And are you convinced that never changing is in your best interests?”
