On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

It happens sometimes…roll with it

Thunderstorm near Disney World
Last night at 730pm.

It happens sometimes…roll with it looks good on paper.

Radar showed no rain at our High School, just three miles down the road.

And last night, a Tuesday, was a scheduled Track workout.

Our campus was dry and untouched by rain.

But we had to wait, as the clouds shifted direction.

Ultimately, after 15 minutes, we made the call to cancel.

It happens sometimes.

Roll with it.

It’s called real life.

It ain’t called theoretical life.

Theoretically, we should take good care of our health for our entire lifetime.

He’s rather run on Saturday nights

Saturday mornings at the track are not his thing. Photo: Yesterday, May 28, 2016. School ended May 26.

He’d rather run on Saturday nights.

Works for me.

A simple change made it a vastly different experience

A simple change made it a vastly different experience.

We warmed up and began the first interval like usual. Then i changed the distance and recovery periods to half of normal.

Shorter distance and recovery, but faster pace and quicker recovery.

We logged less distance, but ran slightly harder.

Quality over quantity.

It was fun to be there as he experienced the concept for the first time.

Imagine running three consecutive PR’s in one practice

Children statues
This would be easy to miss or ignore. But remember being a child flying a kite for the first time? That’s hard to ignore.

Imagine running three consecutive PR’s in one practice.

He did that last night as we did 400 meter intervals.

On our final cool-down lap, i planted the seed that one day these PR (personal records) would become a warmup lap time. Something he can’t fathom now.

But i see it clearly and convincingly.
