In theory, running should not be his exercise of choice

Running and foot health
Thank goodness for experts like Dr Curtis Wagner.

Unexplainable that yesterday’s run was impossible because of excruciating foot pain.

Why the pain?

And to remove the temptation to run in spite of the pain, it was raining. Not a fan of running in the cold rain.

So no run.

Immediately opted for an earlier than normal gym workout.

On the way home, a “Why not?” moment and pulled into Sand lake Commons Medical complex to see about a walk-in appointment.

The pain had vanished the way our vehicle stops making that weird noise when we take it to the mechanic.

Foot pain is back again today.

Unforeseen setbacks are part of the deal

Gold’s Gym abdominal incline bench.

Unforeseen setbacks are part of the deal. Will visit the podiatrist this morning, without an appointment, hoping to be seen by Dr Wagner.

Most likely a tiny cyst putting excruciating pain on the ball of the foot.

No 10-miler today.

Bummer.

Was planning, after a few warmup miles, on a one-mile time trial – the foundation of speed work.

Nationals are in four months. No time to waste.

Lifetime exercise seems limited to people who truly love exercise

Yesterday’s run through Windermere.

Lifetime exercise seems limited to people who truly love exercise.

Newsflash, it’s not the magic that makes it work, it’s the hard work that makes it magic.

The refusal to quit is the secret sauce that no one talks about.

Only running three days a week as a retiree. This past week was astonishing with runs of 14, 13.1 and 10 miles.

Hidden in these numbers is the lifetime longest and second longest runs ever, in 55 years.

How is that possible?

The coolest thing you’ll never find in a wellness self help book

Wednesday’s run.

The coolest thing you’ll never find in a wellness self help book is this:

When you refuse to quit, your greatest accomplishment is your journey. Your journey is the reward.

It’s Friday morning and the goal is to drive to Windermere (after writing today’s five posts) to run the upcoming Run Among the Lakes 5k course three times, for a nine-miler.

Who would have ever thought that the other two runs this week would be half-marathons?

No one. Ever.
