The next big goodbye

The Disney goodbye happened in 2014.

The next big goodbye will be blogging, 2025.

Only 16 days away.

Not feeling ready.

Finding solace though in knowing i can still write every day if i want to.

Guessing i’m gonna want to.

Saying goodbye to Disney

Saying goodbye to Disney was my first big goodbye.

It was also the most intentional and thoughtful.

Planned six years in advance.

Took my time orchestrating the metamorphosis.

Two years before goodbye, buyer’s remorse hit me hard for a year. What if this is a mistake?

Got through that tough year (2013) and the sixth year (2014) of “goodbye Disney prep” was the best of all my 32 years at Disney.

Rest day, lovely rest day

The idea of doing nothing is foreign to me.

The idea of doing nothing on a Sunday has been talked about and promoted by society, my entire life.

Aiming at be excellent at the basics.

Ps. A work in progress as they say.

Pss. Been consistent for years at not working out on weekends. Motivated by rest’s physical importance.

Gonna start exercising in retirement

Disney Retiree website
The flip side of the Disney postcard.

Gonna start exercising in retirement.

Sounds familiar. And predictable.

Probably not gonna happen. Sure hope it does though.

Crazy thing is we think retirement will change things.

Challenged a retired Disney colleague to drive the speed limit. All the time.

At Gold’s Gym recently, Fred said this, “It’s funny how your pace of life slows down when you aren’t hurrying (speeding) to the next thing.

Why do retirees still drive fast?

Could write a book.

Wait, already did.
