Day 6 West Glacier, body

t-shirt with mountain quote
Mountain walking is my favorite treadmill.

Until further notice, the world is my gym.

Day 5 West Glacier, body

Instead of a ‘Jeff video’, this (2:17) Olympic video is yours to enjoy and digest.

Being more cautious than anticipated this first week in the shadows of the Continental Divide.

Why?

The reality of a hard (lifetime) physical reboot has spoken to me in a way that is welcomed and cursed in alternating breaths.

Hate that my fitness is incredibly sub-par.

Love that i see my poor fitness clearer than ever, and, that i accept it.

Growth mindset facilitates accepting things you can’t control (the hard reboot). It also facilitates fighting like your life depends on it for things in your control (slow and steady recovery back to vibrant fitness).

Universe, i love you. Thanks again.

Day 4 West Glacier, body

Sydney McLaughlin Levrone
Track and Field is going to start any day now. Sydney competed in 2016 as a 16-year-old. She won the gold in 2020. And coming into the 2024 Olympics she has broken the world-record five times.

Note to self: You do not need to apologize for your fitness-focus, your food choices, or your sleep schedule.

Day 3 West Glacier, body

Glacier view golf club sign
Was able to walk 5 miles after dinner through this community. It’s a stone’s throw from Going-to-the-Sun Road, but 99.999% of visitors have no idea it exists.

Vision and simplicity point to True North.

My health goals:

Be an example not a warning.

Dream big. Get there. Stay there.

Day 2 West Glacier, body

National park hotel
The upper balcony is where our next room will be. This side faces some mountains. The other side faces the great lawn and train station.
mountain cabin
The newest accommodations in Glacier. First impression walking in was, “this looks, feels, and smells clean and new”.

“Once bitten, twice shy” is a saying.

Sayings perpetuate because of an abundance of wisdom or truth.

Was not expecting to be wowed at checkin.

In fact, was preparing for some dumb snafu. This is not in my nature.

A classic, “plan for the worst, hope for the best”.

The front desk clerk was underwhelming.

In a heartbeat, i set out to kill ’em with kindness.

It worked.

The clerk transformed into a lovely employee.

i exceeded my expectations for myself.

Note: Not only was the initial employee dialogue underwhelming, there was once again an absence of any “welcome”, let alone a “welcome back”.
