Day 3 WGcab and Granite1n, body

Two people by small town sign
Finally paused to snap this photo, after five weeks.

Today is a rest day.

We took the boat, without hiking intentions.

Sometimes doing next to nothing surprises you. Sometimes it doesn’t.

Today was a bit of both.

Day 2 WGcab, body

Honeymooners at a trailhead sign
Scenic Point isn’t the “headliner” on the trailhead sign.
Small herd of female Bighorn sheep
Seeing wildlife is a hit or miss proposition.

We weren’t the first ones on the trail, but we were alone for this entire experience.

A lot can happen in one week.

This time last year (2023) i was making steady progress after the August 17 (2023) retina-tear emergency surgery.

Things were looking good for a delayed return – one month versus the planned one week – and then the retina tore again requiring a second surgery.

So, fingers crossed that in a week we are heading back out to Glacier on a one-way plane ticket.

Painted TePee closeup. All the above photos are from Highway 49, also known as Looking Glass Road.

Find a million ways to stay motivated.

Note: At my lightest weight in a year. Feels great.

Day 7 Walt Disney World, body

highway lined with telephone poles
All the way. Both directions. It’s lined with endless telephone poles.

Real life in real time.

We rest our body daily with sleep.

We probably (pretty sure) we rest our mind with daily sleep.

We do not exercise all day.

Yet it seems, to me at least, that i think all day long.

Consistently.

Perhaps even constantly, like breathing.

Day 6 Walt Disney World, body

Taking the Sinopah (boat) again shaved 2.5 miles off our roundtrip distance.
Apple Watch fitness app
Once again, the 8:00 AM boat trip was ‘magical’.

Heading to Colbalt Lake.

Have had the All-Trails app for several years. Not relying on it to navigate this Summer. But using it to test-drive it’s accuracy.
trailhead sign
If you remember, the trailhead sign said 3.4 miles one way. My fitness app says it’s 4.8 miles.

There is magic in walking uphill and downhill.

There is magic in simply walking.

But if you are able to go up and down, do it.

And if you are able but don’t do it, you’re missing a physical vibrancy treat.
