“Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.”

healthy lunch
After a great workout, and before a client visit at Epcot, a power lunch.

A friend at the gym asked, “Did you bike today?”

“Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.”

i’ve told him this before, and don’t expect him to remember nor care.

“About an hour to the gym and an hour home.”

Ike stated (not in the form of a question), “So you can eat anything you want.”

Smiling, i spontaneously replied, “Yes, but i only eat the good stuff. Food is fuel.”

He never saw that coming.

Most don’t.

To exercise so you can splurge with unhealthy food choices and quantities?

Seriously?

Yeah, i used to think that way.

For decades.

15 x 12 x 10 ought to do it

UPS box
Sending my business clothes to the client so i can travel light.

Client wants me to adhere to their grooming guidelines at their special facility.

Being vibrantly healthy allowed me to resist the frustration i initially felt.

“If Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg were doing the keynote instead of me, would you tell them they couldn’t wear nice jeans and running shoes?”

i guessed a 15 x 12 x 10 would hold what i needed to send.

Perfect.

Shipped it yesterday.

Not only am i flying with only a small backpack, but the backpack is much smaller than the typical Swiss Gear small backpack.

Lightness brings a freedom and joy that extra weight never offers.

Is it your tummy or your tongue driving you?

Disney screen shot
Most Chefs over-focus on taste first. Think about your own habits.

Is it your tummy or your tongue driving you?

Fuel or taste?

Choosing tummy over taste is one of the ways vibrantly healthy people condition themselves with better habits.

Better habits, better vibrancy.

Personal, physical recession?

inspirational quote
On the bike ride to the gym yesterday morning.

growth mindset
The opposite of a fixed mindset.

Personal, physical recession?

This is when you reflect back on your past year and you realize (and have really known all along) you haven’t grown physically as a person.

Bonus: If you aren’t exercising, you most assuredly are leaning to a fixed mindset regarding your health.  It’s entirely possible you have a growth mindset at work, for example, but the goal is to think growth in all five of life’s big choices.

There is no escaping discomfort

wearing a box on your head
A box on our head would be uncomfortable if we had to wear it daily.

There is no escaping discomfort.

Are we obligated to embrace discomfort?

Know what happens when we embrace discomfort?

We become the pilot of our ship.

The time passes, but we are the captain – the one in command.

We get to choose whether we are uncomfortable with the daily grind that’s required to live with (intentionally) better health choices.

Failing to make great health choices makes us a victim of poor choices.

Why the heck would anyone sign up for a lifetime of that?

Oh wait, i know.

Pleasure, weakness, distraction, procrastination, fear.
