The constant challenge to find time to exercise

The constant challenge to find time to exercise is enough to make a sane person lose their mind. (Tweet that)

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

(time and priority management)

traffic in the darkness
Reusing yesterday’s photo. Why? Because it’s a metaphor for routine, mundane, repetitive days.

The last 48 hours have been extra busy, and…

It has cut into exercise and sleep.

And it’s been a perfect reminder why carving out decent wellness habits prevent unexpected (which are to be expected) events from derailing our long-term health.

Great wellness habits have one major, strategic goal: to buffer us from having our health spin out of control.

Life’s setbacks either become manageable events each time they happen, or they become another in a long list of excuses reasons why we can never get an exercise, eating, and sleeping routine to stick.

Covered 10 miles to Magic Kingdom and back yesterday after a week off. Seven miles of running, the rest walking. It was great thinking time.

Exercise is good for multitasking. Good for the body, good for the soul.

Life and exercise, on the road again

Orange County Convention Center
Other side of the Hilton, looking North – the Orlando Eye.

Yesterday’s short drive to Orange County Convention Center astonished me when i tried to comprehend how diligently i exercised even with the massive travel schedule for the final 10 years at Disney Institute (15 years at DI, 30 years total at WDW).

Didn’t see any early morning (business traveler) runners yesterday.

The rarity is making it acceptable

Steve Jobs quote
There’s a time and a place for everything.

No gym two days ago. No run this morning.

Rare in retirement to miss either.

Why?

Because i’m so much more in control of my time.

Some recent entrepreneurial deadlines have put pressure on this retirement luxury.

Because it rarely happens, i’m not going to sweat it.
