DU we love you because of three realities

Disney University Keynote Speakers
A few days after retiring from Disney.

Ran to DU (Disney University) yesterday for the first time as a retiree.

It was cool. Really, really cool.

Why?

Because of three realities: the reality that you live close enough to do it, that you have permission to do it, and that you are retired.

“Help Me”

Delayed run until well past sunrise in order for the air to warm. Nothing less than 50 minutes sounded good.

Turns out it was two honeymooners looking for Downtown Disney.

It was a nice one-minute break with 10 minutes still to run.

Because she loves to run, we think she loves to run

Wellness word cloud

Because she loves to run, we think she loves to run.

But she struggles.

And no one knows.

Some days, and often for weeks at a time, she struggles to enjoy it.

She wants to quit.

It becomes a have to do, a need to do, not a get to do.

This is truth and when we feel like her, plow through it.

Anything…

But do not quit!

iPhone stopwatch mile split
Real life in real time… in-the-moment moments happen constantly

What if we had a great reputation with ourselves?

You know, that first thing we think of when we think of ourselves.

For example, our ability to do what we say we’re gonna do.

But our dreams are crazy. Tiring. Mundane even.

This is a long hard journey.

Too long.

Too hard.

So…

A sub-six minute mile does not fall from the sky.

Wanted a sub-six. Delivered a sub-six.

Do what we say we’re gonna do.

No?
