Intentionally not doing it on the weekends

Disney's Animal Kingdom parking lot

(photo:Row 58 in Disney’s Animal Kingdom parking lot… not everyone lives to see 58. And of those who live that long, how many weekends in a row have they avoided exercise?)

Fourth weekend in a row intentionally not exercising. No running. No Gold’s Gym.

Doing nothing has never felt so amazing.

Insight: Our wellness plans ebb and flow. But only if we refuse to quit.

There’s an intriguing correlation between improving one area in our life and the degree to which the other areas are similarly impacted even though the ripple effect wasn’t our motive.

Sometimes change is forced our way and sometimes we control whether change can happen or not. And generally we are resistant to change, so we fight it when it’s forced, and we’d much rather take comfort in tradition and routine.

The reason both weekend days were active rest is because Mid Life Celebration is ‘closed’ on weekends – a “money” decision rippling into body.

If only we had spent more time avoiding exercise

Orlando sunrise

(photo: It’s still dark out, so this photo from three days ago is this morning’s inspiration to ‘just do it’)

We may not think we are dedicating our lives to avoiding exercise, but that’s exactly the end result for many.

Yee haw! Two purposeful days of active rest. No travel. Orlando-stay-at-home lucky.

Expecting a decent run this morning.

Hoping something similar for you.

Always.

A lifetime of it.

When we dedicate ourselves to an active lifestyle in spite of the overwhelming odds it will fail, we can go into a day without the need to exercise because it will be so stimulating that physical activity is not necessary this day.

It’s a nice feeling.

A bit like money in the bank.

We worry all our hard work will erode away

Rainbow over Sanibel Beach

One of the most challenging things to do is slow down and take a break.

For like a week at a time.

We worry all our hard work will erode away.

Maybe.

Maybe not.

We will soon find out.
