Maybe Cort (right) just needs a little nudge to enjoy the morning.

Slept in until 6am yesterday. Why mention it? Because being intentional about our health means we over manage certain things we used to under manage or ignore.

Sleep is one of them.

While sleeping in didn’t get me to eight hours, it did provide one more hour than waking up at 5am, which would have been better for getting my writing done.

Comebacks come with setbacks

Mickey Mouse tee-shirts at Downtown Disney
Downtown Disney yesterday.

Comebacks come with setbacks.

Being sick on Friday meant no run, no gym.

Thought a very easy three miler would be a good makeup day yesterday. Wasn’t feeling it.

This means only two running days last week.

Nature’s way of saying, “Take a break”.

And the Doctor’s way of saying take this Amoxicillin twice a day for the next ten days.

Being slow is not bad. This was near the end of a 10-miler yesterday.

Back off dude.

Still feeling the effects of the half-marathon track workout from two days prior. This was a signal to take my foot off the accelerator, and to go slow and long. But not too long.

Under rated benefit of active rest days.

You can tend to other things, like running your business, on your own terms.

Active rest means it’s planned in advance

Disney wellness speaker jeff noel
Last week’s run on International Drive

Who’s watching your progress?

Active rest four days a week. Tuesday and Thursdays during the week. Plus the weekends.

Running and strength/core training just three days a week.

Have been doing this since retiring from Disney on Halloween 2014.

Quality versus quantity.

Looks good on paper.

Rest is way under rated.

It’s a strategic advantage.

It’s also more difficult than we think.
