Disney Institute Leadership Excellence, body

the word DREAM etched into a blue Mickey Mouse shaped head
This is a snapshot of one of my home office bookshelves. DREAM is a 1980’s Walt Disney World acronym: Disney Resort Experiences Are Magic. The Blue DREAM Mickey Mouse head was the centerpiece logo from an intentional cork board every department was given to communicate this initiative. The vision was clear, Magic for every Guest. When the cork boards got removed permanently, i salvaged the logo.

Disney Institute class…

Disney’s Approach to Leadership Excellence.

Thesis statement…

We judge ourselves on our intentions, others judge us on our behaviors.

We begin our content with a profoundly simple yet simply profound leadership catalyst…

Vision.

What’s the difference between a vision and a vision statement?

Answer: Your future.

Magic’s survival rate

Disney University
Rode my bike here. Why? To call someone that loves Disney. They love Disney so much they want to make the organization (and themselves) like Walt. Ps. i biked the long way to get here.

Magic’s survival rate increases by intentionally focusing and disciplining yourself with a fanaticism rarely seen.

Think of fanaticism this way…

Mediocre trails average. Average trails above-average. Above-average trails fanaticism.

Fanaticism leads the way to transformation. Hard stop.

Daily personal victory first

Manhattan Apple Store at dawn
Working in Manhattan. Out for an early morning victory (run) before the work day begins.

Daily personal victory first.

Rest up.

Wake up.

Fuel up.

Move.

Repeat daily.

Mix things up too, except the sleep.

Balanced excellence

Business phrases
This is yesterday’s note. Added two others inspired from the first.

Balanced excellence is a phrase originating from a If Disney Ran Your Life podcast episode recording with Jody Maberry.

In the moment yesterday, inhale excellence emerged in an instant.

Having meals in a college dining hall is inspiring and last night’s dinner was no exception.

Stir-fry vegetables and tofu, and a gala apple for dessert.

Perfect.

What you gain when you can inspire yourself

WTF
WTF. Wow That’s Funny, you have a body but don’t take care of it.

What do you gain when you can inspire yourself?

You get 24/7 inspiration.

You are not dependent on others.

You are free from external sources.

You are in control of your thoughts.

Your thoughts are in control of your actions.

This is a bar set high.

So not exercising regularly is a glaring failure opportunity.

PS. If your life (and your health) was a business, think “If Disney Ran Your Life?”
