We become as we thinketh (and doeth)

inspirational quote
There are great scripts and poor scripts and scripts in between. Choose carefully.

Poor habits feel irreversible.

There are exceptions to every rule.

Take for example the person who defies the odds and remains active into their 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and beyond.

Take for example the person who develops cirrhosis of the liver from a lifetime of drinking.

Note to self: You are CEO of You, Inc.

Your health defines you

filet mignon
Last night’s dinner was a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich, made from stuff i bought on the way to Tampa two days ago.

Your health defines you.

Your level of wellness drives what you do or don’t do to define your health.

And by define, i mean define.

Well aware of disease and other genetic factors.

So i’m not talking about weight and that garbage.

Do you floss your teeth every night before bed?

The diseases and genetics that stop a person from grabbing some floss and spending a few minutes to do it are, well, i can’t think of any.

Karma has no preference, you get to decide though

What you eat, how much sleep you get each night, how much exercise you get – these are things you need to control.

And when life feels like it’s out of control, it’s because you haven’t planned for the unexpected events that will come when you least expect them. It may also mean your motivation to be well isn’t strong enough to resist taking the easier, inactive path.

PS. It’s important to remember that amazingly positive things will also happen when you least expect them. The key, however, is to be able to weather the sudden, and sometimes prolonged, storms.

There is no escaping discomfort

wearing a box on your head
A box on our head would be uncomfortable if we had to wear it daily.

There is no escaping discomfort.

Are we obligated to embrace discomfort?

Know what happens when we embrace discomfort?

We become the pilot of our ship.

The time passes, but we are the captain – the one in command.

We get to choose whether we are uncomfortable with the daily grind that’s required to live with (intentionally) better health choices.

Failing to make great health choices makes us a victim of poor choices.

Why the heck would anyone sign up for a lifetime of that?

Oh wait, i know.

Pleasure, weakness, distraction, procrastination, fear.

Habitual choices

Logan Pass
This choice happens at only one place in the world. Exiting the Logan Pass parking lot.

Note to self.

Make wise, habitual, healthy choices every day.
