It’s been almost 20 years of continuous wellness

insight
Photo uploads are impossible, so thank goodness for a large media library of photos from previous posts.

It’s been almost 20 years of continuous wellness. Started working at Disney Institute in March 1999. About one year later, began running one mailbox a day. Ever since, haven’t gone more than 14 continuous days (once) without exercising.

Less than a handful of times there were no-exercise stretches of 9 or 10 days. Other than those anomalies, it’s never been more than a few days without.

PS. Intentionally omitted using the words i, me, my, mine.

Pros and cons of momentum

WTF
WTF. Welcome To Fitness.

Momentum, good or bad, is hard to reverse.

No enforcement is necessary

Goofy water skiing
Screen shot from a friend’s Facebook update yesterday. Turning down free education is a goofy habit.

No enforcement is necessary when you are properly motivated.

Growth happens only when you want it bad enough to change your habits.

The exception to this is a wakeup call. However, a wakeup call has a short shelf life and after you’ve accepted (and gotten used to) whatever it is that brought you to your knees, odds are against you transforming – perhaps your odds are the biggest wakeup call of them all.

A perfect month wasn’t the goal

Apple exercise rings screenshot
Th commentary directly below the rings must have been AI generated. i didn’t write it and pretty sure no other human did either.

A perfect month wasn’t the goal.

But it happened anyway.

The photo above came my way and it is smile-worthy.

First time for everything.

Right?

PS. Yesterday’s 22-mile roundtrip bike ride and one-hour gym visit was wonderful.

Sitting is the new nicotine

Sitting is the new nicotine.

Think about the epidemic proportions of today’s lifestyles.

Meanwhile, woke up at 3:00am sick and sweaty.

Could be altitude sickness.

Just realized my hotel sits at 7,530 feet.

Took two Advil, drank 12 ounces of water and figured i’d wake up at 5:00am good to go.

Nope.

Slept until 7am.

Very rough and concerning start to first day in Bogota.
