Can “bad” habits be changed without even trying?

New Years Eve 2015 on television
A quick photo on New Years Eve from the TV.

“I can’t”.

What’s the most common excuse we tell ourselves and hear others say?

By chance, circumstances from a recent 10-day trip dramatically reduced the coffee and soda consumption.

With the help of a few doses of ibuprofen for headaches, have cleared the hurdles. Coffee and soda free is so amazingly liberating.

Have been drinking one to two gallons of water a day for a decade or longer. On top of coffee and a diet coke. Thank goodness for indoor plumbing.

Be well.

It’s your responsibility.

Knowing this is not enough.

Is there any bigger investment than our health?

Think sign
Walking purposefully back to the car.

Thinking is the start, but how important is the doing?

Is there any bigger investment than our health?

To know is to do. To know and not do, is to not yet know.

If you are not exercising regularly, eating decently, and getting adequate rest, then you really don’t know yet.

May you someday make it impossible to quit

Disney University at Walt Disney World
Yesterday’s run, January 12..

Hope your desire to get healthier is a longterm desire.

The College National Championship game last night, January 12, stirs many people’s souls.

(Now here we are April 23 as this goes live.)

Sadly, the game’s excitement, and our soul stirring, wears off quickly.

Yesterday’s run to Disney University was cool.

And you?

PS. Congratulations to Ohio State University.

Do not rest until you are no longer afraid

Walt Disney World North Water Bridge
Walt Disney World North Water Bridge.

The codependence of waiting for New Years to make resolutions is simply ridiculous.

These annual New Year’s resolutions never work.

Right?

So then why the heck do we repeat this stupid cycle?

Habit?

What about this harsh reality most think is invisible:

We really have no intentions of changing.

Because we are small.

This is a human condition. And it is hypocritical to everything we dream of.

Enter the real barrier.

Fear.

If we actually resolve and make our change, we will have to live differently.

And this scares us, and we lie to ourselves that it doesn’t.

The solution, if we are really serious, is to not rest until we are no longer afraid.

Find a million ways.
