The 2010 Prefontaine Classic, at Hayward Field in Tracktown, USA (Eugene, Oregon) will be televised on NBC 430 – 600PM this Saturday, July 3rd.

It will feature more Olympic Gold Medalists than any other Track meet in US history.

Even if you don’t like running, you may like the vibe you get watching these artists.

For me, watching them is like adding another log on the fire called burning desire.

Would you describe your desire as a candle or a bonfire?

What’s Wrong With Our Motivation?

Mountain Or Molehill Of Motivation?
Mountain Or Molehill Of Motivation?

What’s wrong with our motivation?

Maybe there’s nothing wrong with it.

Why are we so challenged to stay motivated?

Maybe we aren’t.

What do the greatest athletes, artists, leaders, do that separates their motivation from the rest of us?

Maybe they don’t do anything differently, except one thing.

They will do tomorrow, the same thing they did today, only better.

What’s stopping us from doing that?

Setting goals is good (and easy), and we all know how to do this. We learned it as a child and it’s called imagination.

Reaching goals is good (and much harder), and we all have had some success with this. We like doing it because of the satisfaction called “sense of accomplishment”.

Now here’s the tricky part.

Maintaining that level of achievement.

That’s what my blogs are about. Dreaming big. Getting there. Staying there.

If your goal isn’t impossible, you’re not reaching high enough.

Don’t forget to factor in the “staying there” part into your big health goals.

Lacking Motivation?

“I sometimes think that running has given me a glimpse of the greatest freedom a man can ever know, because it results in the simultaneous liberation of both mind and body……The runner does not know why he runs. He only knows that he must run……We run, not because we think it is doing us good, but because we enjoy it and cannot help ourselves.” — Roger Bannister, 1956
