Under rated, hard to achieve consistently, and critical?

The request for a good, morning run was declined. Tomorrow?

 

The health priority this morning was sleeping in until 6:30am, to get a full eight hours.

Adequate sleep as we all know is under rated, hard to achieve consistently, and critical for a well balanced life.

Some days it even takes a higher priority than running. But the compromise is a mid morning trip to Gold’s Gym, which puts Starbucks a mile away, on the way home.

Life is good today, no?

  1. We can see what works
  2. We can see what doesn’t

To say my sleep rhythm was disrupted in 2013 would be an understatement. What if we treated it like other things we wanted? Setting small, medium, and large goals?

Slept 8.5 hours last night. A goal. On purpose.

If you’re goal isn’t impossible, you’re not reaching high enough. Sounds intimidating. But it doesn’t have to be. And still, there are times when it must absolutely be. Yesterday I foresaw the opportunity to get eight hours of sleep last night. How difficult is getting a good night’s sleep? Sometimes it feels impossible.

The most under rated health trick? Adequate rest. I’ve watched older (than me) adults and listen to them talk about sleep challenges. Can you see the writing on the wall?

Last night for the first time in maybe a year… nine hours of sleep. This was intentional because by 7pm last night, could barely stay awake. Eight is optimal.
