Up at 4:45am to make things happen

Windermere Prep Cross Country
Last night, three parents created a surprise for the team.

Windermere Prep Cross Country
A wonderful act of kindness.

What 10th grader willingly gets up at 4:45am so he can leave the house at 5:40am to be at the track by 5:50am to start the daily Cross Country practice at 6:00am?

And then go straight to the locker room to shower and make 1st period English by 7:45am.

At 5:50am after dropping him off i’ll drive straight to Orlando International Airport for a 8:27am flight to Denver and beyond.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Appetite for better

Glacier Park history
We could still be riding horses. Glacier National Park’s Lake McDonald Lodge.

Appetite for better.

This is something i have learned to harness and thrive on from a lifetime at Disney.

The drive to be the best in the world.

The life of learning to live with never being satisfied, because you’re always wondering, “What if we tried this?”

It’s commercially evident watching the 2016 Rio Olympics which began three days ago.

Disney Employee Engagement summary

Disney Employee Engagement summary:

Employee Engagement:

Customers may not comprehend the quality of your product, but they have no problem deciding if you love them or not. But how do you get your front-line employees to love your customers in remarkable ways?

Program Overview:

Hire | Train | Inspire | Value

Who does your hiring? Are are they choosing the right people for your culture? And are applicants immersed in your culture from the moment they fill out the application? Is that culture carried into training?

Your culture, much like your vision statement, informs and inspires your employees, and it begins the moment a potential team member sees your job posting. It’s then carried through to a promise and a value – a promise to the employee that your products can be trusted and are of value, and that the employee can trust the company and that their contributions to your company, as well as their personal selves, are of value. An inspired, valued, respected, and trusted employee will move mountains for you.

Vision, Disney-style

Disney Customer Service Expert
Yesterday from LinkedIn. Vision is as simple as having a picture in your mind for how you plan, and why you want to plan, to be a lifetime learner. PS. Can’t imagine Socrates saying “study people”.

Vision, Disney-style…

A clear, concise, and compelling vision of the future. A future that is better than now, much better.

Unlike a vision statement which is a collection of words, your vision is in your head, hard to articulate because it’s so incredible, you may not be able to explain it the same way twice, it’s lofty, maybe even impossible.
