No brakes

Today’s walk. Also completed the traditional no-gym gym workout.

No brakes or no breaks?

No brakes means rolling down the highway with no brakes. Dangerous. Risky. Dumb.

It also means, to me, no brakes for living life to the fullest. Obviously subjective, and, decently inspiring.

i’m rolling down the next phase of the highway of life…

With no brakes.

Lovin’ it, too, by the way.

Finally, no breaks?

Yes, and…

Lining up a series of major “breaks” in life.

The next serious break in life happens in 11 days.

Not intending to “stick the landing” by April Fools Day.

Why?

Life goes on. The final, command decision, with years of consideration, happened kinda last minute. Perhaps less than a month ago.

Show, don’t tell

Four hikers at a foggy trailhead
To have the privilege and the opportunity to lead our son and his two best friends he met in ninth grade on a 13-mile hike… What is that worth? Note: In this photo they are all college graduates. Nine years after meeting they continue to meet frequently, including our annual GNP trip.
Two hikers in the mountains
In 50 years of visits, getting to share the most amazing animal encounter that i’ve ever had, with my wife, on a trail deep in the middle of the wild. Note: The Grizzly is between our heads.

Show, don’t tell.

We judge ourselves on our intentions, others judge us on our behaviors.

Wisdom demands stress

Medical exam room
Ignorance keeps you free from worry. Wisdom puts pressure on you to do the right thing whether you feel like it or not.

Ignorance provides freedom. Wisdom confronts ignorance in many ways, most of them unpleasant.

Lower-class goal?

Apple alarm clock screenshot
An amateur goal is to say “my goal is to get more sleep”. A CEO-level vision is to say, “my goal is to get eight hours of sleep every night”. Ps. On average, i get eight, not seven. But sometimes less than eight happens.

When you ask the CEO what’s your goal, and why is it important, remember what you might hear (unfortunately) is an incremental goal and not the end goal.

Digging, in today’s reference, means relentless searching for meaning, purpose, passion.

Keep digging until you uncover your clear, concise, compelling vision.
