Three words, eh?

Two salmon fillets with asparagus
Cheryl gave her blessing for my rooftop seat while dinner baked in the oven. This is the finished version.

Simplicity is operational genius.

  • Creativity
  • Fun

Valuable Physical Mill

1863 Land sale document
Back in the day, $14k was a colossal amount of money. Today, it won’t buy you a new car. Also, Spring Forge is a name we only use for a 1970’s subdivision next to the middle school.

We won’t get fooled again.

The Who

Still taking it physically easy as i (we) await the December 22, 2023 eye exam with Dr Kumar.

Hoping to not get fooled again.

Pillow fight

Black and white photo of three kids having a pillow fight
Two cousins sleeping over in my bedroom. Probably a pillow fight.

Most adults are boring.

dad

Pillow fights are so immature.

They’re fun for kids but you never see grownups having one.

Kin folk

shirtless man in his dining room reading newspaper
This is the Jack that our Son’s Teddy Bear is named after. He passed down his shirtless ways to me. Catch the 1967?

Growing up shirtless on hot summer days was common. Every boy i knew did the same. None of our parent’s had air-conditioning or a swimming pool.

Also, in the early days of our neighborhood (the mid-late 1960’s), only one house (of 30), the original farmhouse, had shade. The old farmhouse had one large maple in the backyard, and one in the front yard.

Not gonna lie

Medical provider, self check in screen
Yesterday. Made the appointment before the eye exam. Was not expecting encouraging news. And wanted to over-focus on bloodwork to look for clues.

i ain’t a Saint, but i dang sure try to always excel at the basics.

dad

Not gonna lie.

When Quest’s email for 30% off the comprehensive blood test arrived a few days ago, i finally jumped on it after deleting similar emails for a few years.

This blood work, using insurance, would have to wait until March 2024. Past insurance requests for “extra” or “sooner” (like January or February) have been denied.

i do not want to wait four more months to see under the hood.

So, the timing was pushing me to pay out of pocket. It’s an expense that feels 100% like a lifetime investment.
