These seven are yours

Climbing this far up Mt. Reynolds when the original goal this day was simply to walk around the base to get used to the notion of taking the risk to climb it in the next few weeks.

Do not get used to neglecting these seven, instead, get used to paying them the attention they deserve. You were born to move. Assuming you are able-bodied, you were born to manage these seven.

Like a broken record, everyday, never get bored with the basics:

  1. Cardio
  2. Strength
  3. Nutrition
  4. Rest
  5. Flexibility
  6. Core
  7. Motivation

Never. Get. Bored.

With. The. Basics.

It can add up quickly

Was a Guest on Jody Maberry’s podcast two days ago and he shared what we did in 5 days n Glacier National Park. The first number is for steps taken. Flights up also equals flights down – in case it wasn’t obvious.

It can add up quickly.

The number of days, months, years that you consistently stay active.

Same with the number that you don’t.

Risk!

What’s the first thing you think of?

Totally a risk.

And an opportunity.

The only failure is staying inactive.

Your body is not whispering, stop for good

Colon cancer is almost always curable when caught early. Early and common generally don’t travel together.

Today at the gym, i decided to use the visit entirely for stretching.

Intentionally took a break from strength exercises.

Why?

My body was whispering in my ear that it would be helpful.

So i listened.

PS. Wrote this post after the four mile roundtrip walk to the gym. Also, there were a few decades in my life where i thought my body was whispering, “You don’t need to worry about being active. No one else does.”

Walking is wonderful

Taken at 6AM on yesterday’s walk. The iPhone 11 has an incredible camera.

Walking is wonderful.

Now that Cheryl and i are together at home after a busy Summer, walking is a joy.

After today’s walk, there’s still the four-mile roundtrip walk to the gym, an hour at the gym, and a 15-mile roundtrip bicycle trip to do an errand and visit Walt Disney World.

Finding your rhythm

Second place, 20-year old Sydney McLaughlin, was only 2/100ths of a second off the old world record.

Finding your rhythm has many meanings.

For me one of those meanings is adapting to lifestyle change.

Developing lifestyle normalcy happens through intentional over-focusing, and a growing confidence.

Hoping for a Monday morning Baltimore Anytime Fitness workout in two hours.
