You really looked like a runner

Runner silhouetted by sunrise
Just a few hours ago.

Doing 100-meter striders on the curves, i noticed something that was remarkable.

So when we finished and were walking i was so happy to tell him, “For the first time, you really looked like a runner.”

Dear son, here’s to hoping you always remember that moment.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

New PR, just days after a previous PR

High School track
Change often happens quickly, whether we measure it or not.

High School Track
The scenery rarely changes going around in circles.

New personal record, just days after a previous PR.

Most teens struggle with various degrees of self-confidence.

Truth be told, so do most adults.

Teens can’t be held fully accountable though because they haven’t learned enough about personal responsibility.

Being physically fit versus not being fit, can you guess which one facilitates self-confidence?

Personal records are proof that progress is being made. Progress caused by effort. Cause and effect. Learning to balance time, energy, and temptation.

It’s pretty close to zero which is compelling

Disney Storyboarding
My first Disney Business book (and 2nd overall) and his (upper right) first book ever.

The original goal was to publish his first book before finishing 9th grade. Too lofty.

We let go of that original goal, yet remain ambitious nonetheless.

Literally only pushing the deadline back three months.

Now our goal is to publish his first book before starting 10th grade on August 18, 2016.

Just yesterday i tried to emphasis the number of 10th graders who can say at the start of the school year, “I have a book on Amazon” is pretty close to zero.

Knowing how remarkable this is can be a huge boost to a 16-year old.

New running PR

Sanibel Island rainbow
Thunder had us run for cover at The West Wind Inn and we waited 10 minutes for the system to pass.

New running PR.

Total but not consecutive running milage yesterday morning was 2.1 miles.

One-mile warm up, rest 10 minutes due to thunder, then finish with 1.1 miles.
