Yesterday was an active rest day. Intentionally not running to get extra rest before tomorrow’s SunShine State Games in Punta Gorda.

What happens when we arrive where we used to be when we were younger?
We get all giddy. Right?
And why is that?
Is it because it’s exciting? Because it reminds us of how great being youthful used to be?
Found a running gear i haven’t used in a long time.
Fastest gear in six years, yet slow by peak performance from a decade ago.
What it means though, is that you are finally on the path to peak performance.
Exciting.
Ran 12 x 200 yesterday morning at the track sidewalk next to the nature preserve.

But then, a runner. He unexpectedly came from behind and passed me as i finished the first warmup mile and stopped to stretch.
He was several hundred meters ahead when the stretching was done and i decided to see if i could catch him – slow and steady of course.
While the 6:06 split was nice, i had this crazy notion of trying a second attempt to go sub-six minutes. Had never attempted it because i thought it was impossible.
