Active rest means it’s planned in advance

Last week’s run on International Drive

Who’s watching your progress?

Active rest four days a week. Tuesday and Thursdays during the week. Plus the weekends.

Running and strength/core training just three days a week.

Have been doing this since retiring from Disney on Halloween 2014.

Quality versus quantity.

Looks good on paper.

Rest is way under rated.

It’s a strategic advantage.

It’s also more difficult than we think.

Active rest days can include long walks through town.

While yesterday was an active rest day, it was also a work day and there was a business meeting downtown with a Healthcare CEO.

What keeps us motivated doesn’t happen too often

The juxtaposition of the Confectionary in the background and the t-shirt. Pixar Confectionary?

What keeps us motivated doesn’t happen too often. But it does happen. And if we’re lucky, it gives us butterflies.

Will do a one-mile time trial, shooting for just under six minutes this morning. A great milestone for an older (55) runner.

This is in preparation for one of only two 5k’s during the entire year. Next Saturday’s 5k will be the first one in the past year.

Unforeseen setbacks are part of the deal

Gold’s Gym abdominal incline bench.

Unforeseen setbacks are part of the deal. Will visit the podiatrist this morning, without an appointment, hoping to be seen by Dr Wagner.

Most likely a tiny cyst putting excruciating pain on the ball of the foot.

No 10-miler today.

Bummer.

Was planning, after a few warmup miles, on a one-mile time trial – the foundation of speed work.

Nationals are in four months. No time to waste.

Chasing an impossible dream is a healthy alternative

Feet up, relaxing at Epcot yesterday.

Chasing an impossible dream is a healthy alternative to not chasing one. In the spirit of dreaming, excellence, fun, and joy, what would happen if we upped the quality of our wellness goals while lowering the quantity?

Only exercising three times a week.

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are duel workout days. Running and gym. The effort is deliberate and intense. The frequency is low.

This may change everything.

Nationals are in 100 days.
