Running and strength/core training just three days a week.
Have been doing this since retiring from Disney on Halloween 2014.
Quality versus quantity.
Looks good on paper.
Rest is way under rated.
It’s a strategic advantage.
It’s also more difficult than we think.

Active rest days can include long walks through town.
While yesterday was an active rest day, it was also a work day and there was a business meeting downtown with a Healthcare CEO.

What keeps us motivated doesn’t happen too often. But it does happen. And if we’re lucky, it gives us butterflies.
Will do a one-mile time trial, shooting for just under six minutes this morning. A great milestone for an older (55) runner.
This is in preparation for one of only two 5k’s during the entire year. Next Saturday’s 5k will be the first one in the past year.

Unforeseen setbacks are part of the deal. Will visit the podiatrist this morning, without an appointment, hoping to be seen by Dr Wagner.
Most likely a tiny cyst putting excruciating pain on the ball of the foot.
No 10-miler today.
Bummer.
Was planning, after a few warmup miles, on a one-mile time trial – the foundation of speed work.
Nationals are in four months. No time to waste.
