Creativity is rampant here.

Where?

Anywhere you want it to be.

But it has to be a deeply embedded habit. Otherwise it won’t be a habit. (That’s called a blinding flash of the obvious.)

Last night we jogged six mailboxes, but we mixed it up (got creative) to offset some chest pains.

Instead of jogging six consecutive mailboxes, we jogged three, then walked three, then completed the second three, and finished with walking three more mailboxes to finish where we began.

Guess what?

No pain.

Plus, a remarkably surprising thing happened. The second jog of three mailboxes was the fastest pace we have ever had, and we didn’t even try.

Why?

Because we were warmed up. It was an aha moment.

And even at the fastest pace, no chest pain.

Squeezing in a fourth teeth cleaning this morning.

Typical healthcare insurance pays for two cleanings per year. For years, i’ve paid out of pocket for a third.

Decided two days ago, with only 12 days until Christmas, to make 2015 the first year with two out of pocket cleanings (four total).

Why?

Why not may be an even better question. Teeth are such a huge asset. If we took better care of them, would they last longer?

Physical health expands beyond diet, exercise, and rest.

Pain is your body’s way of speaking to you. While the above are all possibilities, so is a simple muscle strain. So i’m backing off the core exercises to see if rest is the remedy.

One mailbox a day update after six weeks

After six weeks, this is our current daily run distance.

 

We began on Halloween 2015, six weeks ago. Run one mailbox a day for a week. Each week, add another mailbox (100 meters).

We are only at five mailboxes because in week two, we kept the distance at one mailbox (100 meters).

It’s interesting to watch how two, three, and four mailboxes no longer seem like a big deal. Each time we add a mailbox, we are running farther than he’s ever run in his life. Each new distance becomes a big deal – literally groundbreaking.

And then it becomes no big deal in a week or two.

Slow and steady isn’t a theory.

We just finished week six of becoming a runner. Our daily mailbox total is five, so far. Next week we will run six mailboxes each day.
