Life’s boring details

When yesterday’s photos weren’t loading to iCloud, i used an older photo, like this one from five days ago.

Emotional labor takes a physical toll.

Teaching is pure emotional labor.

Physically spent after yesterday’s 6:30am – 5:00pm teaching engagement.

Went straight to the hotel room, ordered room service dinner, uncharacteristically turned on the TV.

In bed by 8pm.

Physically exhausted from talking all day

Taking care of ourselves before others initially seems selfish. Went to bed early, thus missing “networking” opportunities.

Teaching all day leaves me invigorated and as physically tired as if I had run a marathon.

So tonight around 6pm, i expect to feel inspired by the great work we did.

Also expect to feel like i’ve been run over by a truck.

Once a week is better than zero a week

airport parking garage
The monotonous routine of daily living. This routine ensures i will find my car when i return, and, it frees my mind from worry about having to remember.

The 40k bike and the hour at the gym felt good yesterday.

Heading to the airport in a few minutes for a four-day biz trip.

Since i’m not running and won’t have a bike with me, the best case scenario will be walking. And maybe a hotel gym workout.

Take what you can get.

Otherwise, it will be a two-week stretch averaging one exercise day per week.

Skip it when you need to, but don’t need to much

Looking forward to Future World…

Looking forward this morning to the 40k round-trip bike to the gym and the hour of strength work (mostly core) and flexibility work.

Why?

One, because i’m able, even at 58.

Two, it’s time.

It’s been a week.

The Glacier hikes helped with activity, but there was very little stretching and literally no core/strength activity.

We generally stay here the final night of each trip because it is the closest “in-Park” accommodation to the airport.

The Aspen are at peak yellow.

This morning, after spending four full days on the road.

156.5 pounds.

7.4 hours of sleep last night.

i track it daily using Apple’s Notes app.

Why?

To be mindful of where i stand the past 24 hours and to be mindful of patterns (aka habits).

Knowing both of these allows me to stay the course and/or correct the course.

Otherwise, i, like many Americans, are on a crash course with their personal health.

Fix your health, then start worrying about someone else.
