You don’t need to worry about it

Greeting card
Yesterday at the Dollar Store greeting card aisle in Allentown, PA.

There are these recurring daydreams that begin with the next sentence as the opening scene.

You don’t need to worry about it.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could become enlightened?

You know, to see farther than what’s right in front of us everyday – past the common, everyday surface level stuff.

i carry this weight, the weight of others believing i have it all figured out. Not everyone, but enough to feel uncomfortable. It’s weird and difficult to explain.

And then the guilt of them believing i have some special ability or skill to come in and rescue them from their challenges.

Truth is, i may be one needle of overwhelm away from breaking the camel’s back.

Please make victory over your demons your top priority.

If you, as i do, spent your time focused on that, you’d understand that’s exactly what i’m going through. Then you’d feel i wasn’t being a hypocrite.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Obesity is on the rise

Forget about obesity, how about fitness? You can’t get to this view without a certain level of fitness. Photo: Grinnell Glacier overlook, August 29, 2016.

Obesity is on the rise. Saw the headline a few days ago. Didn’t save the link.

Should i have saved it? Do we really need the article to believe obesity is rising?

Just take our own historic wellness habits.

Ask, “Am i at a healthy, vibrant weight? Am i struggling to simple stay where i am (and where i am isn’t close to optional)? Am i losing my grip and traveling down a slow and steady path to an ever increasing weight?”

He’s lost 49 pounds in three months

Map My Run screen shot
Minutes before our neighborly conversation, i had just finished this run/walk.

He’s lost 49 pounds in three months. He said he has so much more energy now. He’s been retired for a few years and has (theoretically) much more discretionary time to rearrange focus on his priorities.

Perhaps sounding self-righteous a second time, i said, “Reaching a big goal is the first step. Maintaining that goal for a lifetime is the real challenge.”

Everyone knows this even if it’s not on their radar.

i wish you knew how much i struggle with my weight.

If you did, my methods and messages would be exponentially more meaningful for you.
