deep thought about tiny things
One of only a surprising handful of Instagram accounts i follow.

What’s one thing that’s surprised you about summer 2026?

How intentionally creative i’m being with blogging for this Summer.

What’s a blogging challenge few, if any, know about?

Having enough website hosting storage.

funny quote about aging
Gotta tell you this made me laugh out loud.

Since i started celebrating my birthday everyday, life has become remarkably more vibrant. – dad

Note: Started doing this about 20 years ago.

dog on beach
A Cast Member discount got us to Sanibel Island the first time in 1988. A dog got us there the second time. And after three separate yellow labs in our life, we visited every year for 30 years.

Happy June 1, 2026.

While the Summer Solstice is three weeks away (June 21, 4:54am), Since childhood, i’ve always celebrated Summer’s arrival on June 1st.

Why?

As a kid, i actually thought Summer began at the beginning of the month. June = Summer.

Had no clue what a Summer Solstice is.

Be yourself

colorful umbrellas at the beach
What kid wears a shirt at the beach? Note: not talking about SPF shirts. Those didn’t exist in the 1960s.

Be yourself.

You grew up in small town America.

Well, actually, you grew up outside small town America, in a subdivision of 24 homes.

Summers were your favorite Pennsylvania season.

Why?

Because you loved the heat.

And you loved being barefoot and shirtless as a kid.

Free.

Spirited.

You are no different now. Except for barefoot. Your chronic foot pain requires constantly wearing shoes.

Have you ever seen a 60-something dude living a shirtless life?
