Progress requires motivation after the honeymoon phase

Masters Track digital running log
Aim was six minutes or faster.

Progress requires motivation after the honeymoon phase. “Get healthy” honeymoons last a few weeks to a few months. This applies to exercise routines too.

Yesterday ran nine miles, including a four-mile warmup with the fourth mile at seven minutes flat. Aimed for seven flat, delivered seven exactly.

Walked mile five and then began another four mile workout, photo above.

Aim for the first mile in the second set was six minutes flat, or faster.

At 800 meters, was a bit behind at 3:08.

Second 800 was 2:59.

Will take 6:07.

That second 800 really felt amazing.

Find a million ways to stay motivated.

The coolest thing you’ll never find in a wellness self help book is this:

When you refuse to quit, your greatest accomplishment is your journey. Your journey is the reward.

It’s Friday morning and the goal is to drive to Windermere (after writing today’s five posts) to run the upcoming Run Among the Lakes 5k course three times, for a nine-miler.

Who would have ever thought that the other two runs this week would be half-marathons?

No one. Ever.
