To deny this feels unnatural

To deny this feels unnatural.

How’s the daily routine?

A daily, regular and intentional bedtime?

A daily, regular and intentional rise-and-shine time?

Health benefits that pay long-term dividends.

The ability to awaken without hitting the snooze?

The excitement for the gift of another day?

Of course this isn’t possible everyday. Life happens. But fight, daily, to create and sustain a healthy daily routine.

Otherwise we’ll be fighting daily to compensate for an unhealthy daily routine.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Scheduling a week of active rest

Allegiant boarding pass
Last night.

Scheduling a week of active rest.

Leaving the house in 20 minutes (at 4:45am) to catch a flight to Allentown, PA.

Not only have i decided to stop running indefinitely, but i’m also using the trip to coincide with one-week complete rest.

Resting the body but not the mind

Card game
Yesterday, like every Sunday afternoon, was spent at Kissimmee’s Coliseum of Comics.

While our Son enjoyed the YuGiOh tournament, i worked.

Organized our tax paperwork, school health forms, and a set of questions for a business solicitation.

Weekends are reserved for physical rest, yet the mind often gets an intense workout.

Balance is relative, and revolves around energy distribution, not time equity.

Getting eight hours of sleep is a renewed focus

Getting eight hours of sleep feels like a home run. Photo: two days ago after school.

Eight nights ago i got 10 hours of sleep. This is big. And every night since then has been 8 or 7.5, including the last three nights clocking in at eight.

He got another taste of 12 hours door to door

Disney Speakers
View from our balcony.

He got another taste of 12 hours door to door yesterday as we left our Orlando home at 7am and unlocked our Disney’s Grand Californian Resort room door at 7pm (EST).

Casually, as we rode the Disneyland Express motor coach, i painted the picture of how it is for professional speakers and the glamour of traveling for a living:

After a 12-hour travel day, you still need to get dinner and do an AV check before going to bed.

So where does exercise fall into the agenda?

Plan your rest (inactive) days to coincide with travel days. Or, simply take an extra rest day that week.
