Day 60

dark image with the word Day 60

Two months after my first day at Disney we hit Spring Break and Easter.

Everyone works 14 days straight. Don’t even think about asking for vacation.

We could set a single day attendance record in the history of the Walt Disney Company.

Even with everyone working 14 days straight, we still had open shifts.

So when i did a double shift, i’d get off at midnight, get a few hours of sleep and be driving a boat by 8am — until midnight. What’s that, like 16 continuous hours?

Arriving just before 4pm, my Jungle Cruise supervisor was on the dock to greet me at my shift’s start.

He said something that was the first, and most powerful, lesson on setting leadership expectations.

Next to our home.

Goal.

What’s the supreme goal of every customer service interaction?

Pair, then share.

Show you vs tell you.

Cup of ice.

Three dinners – satisfaction is dangerous.

Disney Employee Keynote 60 minutes vs 90 minutes

GNP bears
Patience is a virtue. Nature is a world-class culture.

The bear is also watching. Nature has been sustaining itself since time began.

Disney Employee Keynote 60 minutes vs 90 minutes.

Same content for either length…

History  •   Customs  •   Icons  •   Values

Same high-energy, serious-focus, fun, interactive delivery.

What’s different then?

The extra 30 minutes adds even more interactive, engaging, thought-provoking activity, roughly seven additional minutes of experiential learning for each of the four world-class employee engagement basics.
