The joy and privilege of movement

working from home
Yesterday i wore the USA jacket during the bicycle ride to the 8am dentist appointment, anticipating it being cold inside. This photo captures the workday environment from 10am-5pm.

The joy and privilege of movement.

Taking that joy and that privilege for granted and waiting for “some day” to become physically vibrant again – like you were when you were a child – is a crime.

A crime.

If inactivity, poor eating habits, and poor sleeping habits were forced upon you, you’d feel cheated and you’d probably get angry.

Truth is, you’re probably forcing poor habits upon yourself, and that’s how you should feel, but you don’t.

Exercise your laugh muscles (please)

Exercise your laugh muscles (please).

One of my executive coaching clients is focused on results.

Me too.

So every two weeks on our hour-long call i ask, “Did you laugh out loud at work since our last call?”

To eat, rest, and move with great expectation is glorious

Cozumel Jeep excursion
“Mayan ruin” in Cozumel. Your body is the temple housing everything keeping you alive.

To eat, rest, and move with great expectation is glorious.

Knowing you are intentionally creating lifetime wellness habits frees you from the burden of being unintentional and at risk.

Sure, there are always risk factors, but the ones emanating from poor wellness choices are non-issues for you.

Outside for only a few minutes.

The early bird gets the worm, and the sunrise.

No exercise yesterday.

Sundays are a day of rest.

Generally.

You’ve got your routine all set too…that’s awesome.

Today is an unexpected opportunity

Apple Health App
Haven’t used Apple’s Health App yet.

Today is an unexpected opportunity.

Why?

Because earlier this week, i thought our flight was today.

It’s not.

It’s tomorrow.

Today is Friday, a workout day.

What a wonderful gift.

This discovery reduces the break from exercising by two days.

Instead of “resting” for 13 days, it will only be 11.

Do you know your body well enough to know when it feels like starting over, and when it feels like a good rest?

Ten days is the longest i want to go without exercising.

Thirteen days is something i swore will never happen again.
