Yesterday at a red light: i love Disney…me too, so much so that i live next to it.

Running to Disney’s Magic Kingdom this morning. Why? Simply because i can. And because i love Disney.

Surprisingly joyful, out of nowhere

i always stop for a drink of water here when running through Walt Disney World property.

Bob was there on opening day, October 1, 1971, which means he was hired before WDW opened.

Surprisingly joyful, out of nowhere. That’s what happens sometimes. In miles five and six above, you’ll notice the pace slowed to a crawl while i talked with not only three Cast Members i worked with in the 1980’s, but also three Disney Institute Cast Members i worked with last year.

My three Contemporary colleagues have 44, 42, and 35 years respective service at Walt Disney World. Then there’s me, a pup, with only 30.

Personal vibrancy is in the little details

Disney's Center For Living Well waiting room

There’s an intriguing word that big corporations are using these days, vibrancy.

It became a corporate mission at Disney the year (2013) before i retired. It remains the mission.

Organizational vibrancy.

Love applying it to personal vibrancy too.

Lungs feel clearer, voice sounds an octave closer to normal.

Vibrancy is when a million little things sing joyfully.

Have a rare running partner this morning

Disney Cast Member Only door sign
In a way, this morning’s run is Cast only.

Heading across the street to Keene’s Point to run this morning with 25-year friend Djuan Rivers. We met as colleagues for Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club opening team in 1990.

Djuan recently completed a marathon in Antarctica. He’s also parachuted over Mt Everest too. He has an extensive list of extreme adventures.

He has been insanely successful at Disney.

The physical architectural framework for vibrancy, Disney Style

Disney wellness speaker jeff noel
Yesterday logged 4 miles and 40 minutes as warmup.

The physical architectural framework for vibrancy has seven major elements. The most important isn’t even physical.

More important than the other six (strength, endurance, core, flexibility, nutrition, rest) is motivation.

Having a purpose bigger than yourself.

Because when you do, years of effort are joyfully (mostly) spent while others quit or do the on-again-off-again yo-yo thing.

Week three of track training starts off with a bang.

The 800 and 400 interval times have dramatically come down.
