Thankful for food

Apple Watch fitness app on someone's wrist
Yesterday’s Thanksgiving morning 6-mile walk. Walked four more doing yard work. A ten-mile day wasn’t a goal.

There’s food and then there’s fuel.

Same thing with two paradoxical names and applications.

Nutrition in every ‘healthy’ category.

The ‘food is medicine’ mantra.

If you’re gonna eat — and we dang sure will — what if we made remarkably smart, strategic, lifetime choices on everything from food sources, timing, amounts, snacks, etc?

Physical thanksgiving

Physical vibrancy is challenging to achieve.

Why?

Life.

Busy.

Assorted setbacks.

Few familiar role models.

Distractions, entertainment, medications.

Is it possible that any human could be thankful for a sedentary life?

Regular movement, adequate rest, and balanced fuel (nutrition) — these three are thanksgiving-worthy. Daily. Without end.

Speed limit mindset, body

Yesterday’s walk, one way to DU.

Kept the app running and by 4pm we are nearing a half-marathon.

Half-Marathon: 8 miles round trip to DU, then 5 more miles without leaving our yard. In 9 hours, countless reps of bending, stooping, reaching, lunging and carrying.

Speed limit mindset with physical health?

How much is too much?

If Disney Ran Your Life…

Everything matters. Nothing is optional.

Have fun.

Set the bar for moving, fueling, and eating to its highest level.

Push boundaries.

Break Reinvent rules.

Don’t strive to be the strongest or fastest, strive to be physically vibrant.

Find a million ways to stay motivated.

Vibrant is better than sedentary.

Mirror of my lifetime, body

What do i see in the mirror of my physical lifetime?

A bell curve…

Not strong…to getting stronger…to strong…to losing strength.

_____

A second “bell curve” that’s currently a left-to-right upward graph…

Not active…to more active…to remarkably active.

_____

A third graph, but not a bell curve. A growth chart.

Eating whatever i want…to eating healthier, with ample room for improvement…to treating food as medicine.

_____

Humbled. Grateful. Peaceful. Determined.

Healthy Hippie

What is a healthy hippie?

Healthy: Focused, present, awareness. And, moves vibrantly. Sleeps adequately. Eats sensibly.

Hippie: Unconventional. Peace. Love. Freedom. Individuality.
