What’s holding you back?

High school track practice
Go.

Dennis said when he started swimming a year ago he could only do two laps – up and back counts as two.

Now, in an hour, he swims 68 laps (34 up and backs).

His goal is 100 laps in an hour.

He also went from hating running and believing whole-heartedly that he could never run, to running for 30 minutes.

And, he said, “I love it and look forward to it.”

He also stated that he’s lost 35 pounds.

Fit to Run logo
Yesterday’s visit to Fit 2 Run at Disney Springs.

What is possible is often a script we write in our head. What is impossible is also a script.

A logo with a Castle theme and fireworks is not impossible.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

This is true even though it was never the goal

Daring greatly
Randomly stumbled upon this photo (just now) from a 2011 Tampa conference where i delivered a Disney Keynote speech for Healthcare Executives.

If you only do what others have already done, you will only feel what others have already felt. If you do something no one has ever done, then you will have a satisfaction that no one has ever felt. -Author unknown

Writing this morning’s posts from my 93-year old Mother-In-Law’s Senior Living apartment, i randomly found the blurred photo above. As i struggled to read it i smiled, because i was trying to figure out what had captured my attention five years ago…

Turns out the message was profoundly foretelling.

Dream bigger (please)

Nursing home resident room
This is his world, from his only chair.

Looking straight ahead. The TV is his companion.

Looking left: his bed and only window.

Dream bigger (please).

No one plans on life like this.

Thank goodness there are clean, safe, and friendly facilities to assist in an otherwise overwhelming situation.

We are proud of the fact that pushing the limits energizes us

Disney University exterior.
Lunch yesterday at Disney University.

There is a great temptation to do more, more often. i get it. Working inside Disney for 30 years, it’s crystal clear, we are never satisfied.

This could be a burden. But it’s not. Here’s why.

The whole organization isn’t satisfied. In fact, we are proud of the fact that pushing the limits energizes us.

As Walt Disney (who’s birthday is tomorrow December 5) said, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”

Yesterday was a non-run day and i carved out time to visit a former Disney Institute colleague at Disney University (where he’s been for the past decade) for lunch.
