Plan on setbacks

Plan on setbacks. And plan on them leaving you feeling trapped.

It’s the only way to manage our sanity when the goal is big and has a deadline.

And while the deadline sometimes is non-negotiable, the goal (great health) always is non-negotiable.

World’s is in August.

A week setback doesn’t ruin things, but a week of serious preparation lost cannot be regained. Move forward anyway. Refuse to give in because it gets more difficult.

It’s different for each of us.

But the temptation to set our bar low comes from our desire to not fail.

So what is it then that elevates Olympic athletes, champions of industry, Noble Peace Prize nominees?

For me, it was what i was taught, and consequently experienced first hand, from a lifetime at Disney.

This was mile# 5 of a 10-miler yesterday.

 

The foolish part of dreaming big is allowing the magnitude of impossibility to frighten us and justify our rational excuses to quit.

There should be no quitting a good and noble physical wellness goal. Quitting is the joke. And it’s not funny. At all.

One day our dream seems crushed, the next it feels like victory.

But only if we do not quit.

No foot pain during (or after) yesterday’s 10-miler to Magic Kingdom.

This is huge because defeat and frustration were really strong this time.

Our weight is a daily agenda item. There are very few of us who don’t have to concern ourselves with weight gain. Like showering, brushing our teeth, and other personal hygiene items, a daily focus is key.

Yes it’s monotonous, boring, tiring, and continuously frustrating.

Now imagine if we didn’t focus on it every damn day.
