To neglect this is to literally neglect everything

To neglect this is to literally neglect everything.

Your health.

Your company’s health.

Blinding flash of the obvious, health is wealth.

Getting and staying healthy is constant, tiring, repetitive work.

What else is there to live for if not to live with vibrancy? Too lofty? Too elusive? Too hard? What other path could possibly be easier? The path that includes a lack of wellness created by unfocused and undisciplined choices?

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Less reality, more pixie dust

Truth quote

Pixie dust vs Reality…

And i humbly submit that no one balances these two better than me. It the main reason people feel incredible hope after hearing and experiencing my Disney content.

Less (reality):

hassle

confusion

waste

frustration

silos

turnover

urgency

messy issues

mediocrity

conformity

following

More (pixie dust):

leading

focus

discipline

mastery

courage

accountability

commitment

loyalty

collaboration

creativity

innovation

honesty

profit

The power of a clear, concise, and compelling vision

Disney Customer Service Conference Speakers
University of Iowa Healthcare Customer Service session. My colleague (on stage) and i team taught roughly 40 four-hour sessions over the course of four years.

The power of a clear, concise, and compelling vision eludes most because we default to avoiding simple ideas.

We believe simple can’t work because if it did, everyone would be doing it.

Right?

The simple difference between a vision statement and a vision makes all the difference.

In your next big meeting ask one simple question and listen carefully for the response,  “What is our vision statement?”

(Crickets)

What should happen instantaneously is a simultaneous reciting of a clear, concise, and compelling statement that rolls off the tongues of everyone in the room, even the newest person.

PS. Disney’s vibrant employee culture is a direct result of great leadership.

And any department, office, division, or team that is struggling at Disney (or any company) is struggling because of the absence of great leadership.

Disney creativity in action

Quote on big goals
In the line waiting for the Willis Tower elevator. The author’s name cut off as a snapped the photo.

The thought of not running this week is feeling pretty scary.

If we were in Orlando, i could cycle, but arriving in Allentown yesterday, not only will i not be running but i will not be cycling either.

Disney creativity in action: Just take a week off. Rational: it’s been years since i took a break. A break will be healthy.

Will i be taking a break from blogging or will i find a creative way to blog and simultaneously write Disney books?
