Writing helps me exercise, rest, and refuel

The paperwork of life
This photo is a reminder of how tax return paperwork threw this week out of balance.

Had to put several important things on the back burner yesterday in order to invest the three hours required to follow my doctor’s orders of regular exercise.

Had i skipped yesterday, the week would have netted only one exercise day.

Three days – Monday, Wednesday, Friday – at three hours each is the current routine.

An object in motion tends to stay in motion.

Writing every morning helps me process that fact.

Someday starts today is a great battle cry

Florida Hospital
Almost recycled the magazine when i took one last glance and found this on the inside back cover.

Closer inspection.

Mind, body, spirit is a great start.

i’m convinced there are two overlooked components because these two are seen as a separate entity.

Add work and home to the mix and you’ve just created a five category approach to wellness and balance.

Mind  •  Body  •  Spirit  •  Work  •  Home

We take our mind, body, and spirit with us everywhere we go.

Run for cover

Cross Florida Bicycle patch
Remember how healthy you were in 1985? Found this participation patch last week while cleaning the garage. Completed the one-day, 170-mile ride in 1985 and 1986; the second and third years after moving permanently to Florida in 1984.

The attack on our attitude doesn’t end there, the attack also targets our physical wellbeing.

Run for cover…

Or walk, dance, bike, stretch, swim, etc.

With so many pressures on your time and motivation, what are you doing to stay active, rest adequately, and consume a balanced and healthy diet?

i can’t get over how so many people quit

WPS Cross Country practice
Last night at WPS High School…Cross Country practice.

i can’t get over how so many people quit. i used to be one of them.

  • Not eating a balanced diet (common sense, right?)
  • Not getting regular exercise (more common sense, no?)
  • Not focusing on consistently adequate rest (common sense, not common practice)

And then most of these same people (that was me too) expect others to “have a clue” about a this particular issue or that  particular issue.

Dear Son, get your own house in order, and let others make their choices without any judgement from you.

This kind of schedule is preparation for balancing life

Notes from meeting
Notes from Parents Cross Country meeting four days ago.

He missed the entire first week of Cross Country practice because he was on a family vacation in Glacier National Park.

Monday and Friday practices will be 6:00-7:30am.

Yikes.

Because of the sub-tropical heat, Tuesday and Thursday practices will be after school, but late after school, 6:00-7:30pm. And Wednesday will be strength training form 5:30-7:00pm.

This is going to be a significant challenge not only physically, but from a balance perspective as well.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.
