People often ask me how I find the time for wellness, with a 30-year career gig involving massive travel, a solo, small biz entrepreneurial startup, being a Dad, Husband, etc.

My trick? I picture climbing Mt Everest – which is perhaps the ultimate physical and mental challenge, because it’s so high and so unpredictable. Some die trying. But the triumph from reaching the summit…. beyond description.

I had to decide to be courageous enough to overcome my inertia. Have you had to be courageous? I mean, to decide to get healthy? And after that, to find a million ways to stay healthy?

What motivated you? I’m not using courageous lightly here. In fact, courageous as in life saving, hero-type courage. For me, it came down to deciding to become our son’s example for healthy well being. Didn’t want to end up being a big warning for him. Know what I mean?

As I turn 53 today, thoughts and prayers go out to every other 50-something man (and the women too) who struggles to get and stay healthy. This Lane 8 blog is centered around physical wellbeing. On a day like today (which is like every other day, really), these blogs overlap so much, it’s difficult to talk about one without mentioning the other.
