This blog is about our body.

The temple that houses everything that keeps us alive. Honor it. Like a boss.

Strength, endurance, nutrition, rest, core, flexibility, and motivation make up the seven pillars.

The most important of the seven is to find a million ways to stay motivated, and find one clear, concise and compelling purpose for your lifelong journey – to be an great example and not a glaring warning.

Intentionally use your expert knowledge to your advantage

Map My Run screen shot jeff noel
Yesterday, April 18, 2015.

Yesterday’s 90-minute run became a 90-minute walk instead.

Was comfortable making the change without guilt for three solid reasons:.

  1. Tired from being up late from the Jimmy Buffett concert
  2. The subtropical heat from starting the activity later than normal
  3. The quality of the previous three outings, including a great 5k race and a six-minute time trial.

Know thyself.

And intentionally use that expert knowledge to your advantage.

Progress requires motivation after the honeymoon phase

Masters Track digital running log
Aim was six minutes or faster.

Progress requires motivation after the honeymoon phase. “Get healthy” honeymoons last a few weeks to a few months. This applies to exercise routines too.

Yesterday ran nine miles, including a four-mile warmup with the fourth mile at seven minutes flat. Aimed for seven flat, delivered seven exactly.

Walked mile five and then began another four mile workout, photo above.

Aim for the first mile in the second set was six minutes flat, or faster.

At 800 meters, was a bit behind at 3:08.

Second 800 was 2:59.

Will take 6:07.

That second 800 really felt amazing.

Find a million ways to stay motivated.

These seven universally apply to any type of exercise

World class wellness tips on napkin
A simple, profound list.

These seven universally apply to any type of exercise:

  1. Anaerobic/Endurance
  2. Aerobic/Strength
  3. Core
  4. Flexibility
  5. Diet
  6. Rest
  7. Motivation/Goals

Improve one, they all improve. Neglect one, they all suffer.

Then compound the effects either way when two, three or four are improved or suffer.

Ignoring this does not negate it’s truth.
